With its exceptional collection of rare woodwork and plaster artefacts, as well as metal, ceramic, glass, crystal, and textile objects from all over the Islamic world, the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) in Cairo, Egypt is considered one of the world's greatest museums.

The museum has recently displayed approximately 4,500 artifacts in 25 halls, but it houses over 100,000 objects, with the remainder in storage. Rare manuscripts of the Qur'an are included in the collection, with some calligraphy written in silver ink on pages with elaborate borders.
