Philae Island

Philae Island was an island in Upper Egypt near the vast First Cataract of the Nile. The island is now submerged beneath Lake Nasser as a result of the construction of the Aswan Dam. The Philae temple complex, which had been built on the island, was relocated to Agilkia Island prior to its submergence.
